Ilham Aliyev leaves for Istanbul
Baku / 12.12.17 / Turan: In the evening on December 12, the head of state Ilham Aliyev lhas left for Istanbul to participate in the summit of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) on the issue of Jerusalem. Turkish media reported that on December 13, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan will meet with the leaders of Islamic countries to discuss joint actions. As a result of the meeting, the final declaration will be published.
Representatives of 48 countries will take part in the meeting. 16 countries will be represented at the level of heads of state (Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, Bangladesh, Indonesia, Palestine, Guinea, Iran, Qatar, Kuwait, Libya, Lebanon, Somalia, Sudan, Togo, Jordan and Yemen).
Djibouti, Malaysia and Pakistan will be represented at the level of prime ministers.
The Comoros will be represented at the level of the Secretary of State, Oman - the Vice-Premier, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan - at the level of the Speakers of Parliaments.
The Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), which has observer status in the OIC, will be represented by President Mustafa Akynji. Venezuela will be represented at the meeting by President Nicolas Maduro as an honorary guest. -02D-

Extradition of the head of Azel TV website Afgan Sadygov from Georgia to Azerbaijan has been suspended for a week by the European Court of Human Rights. Tamta Mikeladze, the head of the Georgian Centre for Social Justice, which provides legal protection for Sadygov, wrote about it in facebook.

A candidate in the municipal elections for the 23rd Nasimi-Sabail electoral district, activist Djamila Alisheva, has reported administrative barriers in conducting her campaign. On January 15, the Tbilisi Court of Appeals rejected the appeal of Afghan Sadigov, the founder of the Azel TV website, who had protested his extradition to Azerbaijan. Sadigov’s wife, Sevinj Sadigova, stated that this was the final judicial instance in Georgia making a decision on the case, Turan reported. On the other hand, lawyer Mariam Kvelashvili informed Turan that the defense would continue legal steps to prevent the extradition of Afghan Sadigov. According to his wife, Afghan has been on hunger strike for 117 days, and his health is critical.
