Ilham Aliyev pardoned 84 people (UPDATED)
President Ilham Aliyev signed an order on October 17 for a pardon of84 people.
According to the document, 80 people will be released from prison, some of them are citizens of Turkey, Iran and Pakistan. Another man was released from probation, two of hard labor and one from a fine.
Among those pardoned four recognized human rights activists as political prisoners.
Among the pardoned are people recognized by the human rights activists of NIDA Movement Bakhtiyar Guliyev, Shahin Novruzlu, and Elsever Mursalli.
In June and July of this year, they wrote a petition for clemency and made statements about leaving the NIDA, and support the government's policies.
The head of the NGOs in Ganja "Enlightenment Center "Intelligent citizen", Hasan Huseynli, has also been pardoned.
The list of political prisoners published on August 8 includes the names of 98 people. The list was compiled by human rights activists, who soon found themselves behind bars - Rasul Jafarov and Leyla Yunus. At present, the total number of political prisoners in Azerbaijan is about 100 people.-06В-

On January 15, the Yasamal District Court rejected the motion to change the detention measure for Azer Gasymly, the director of the Institute of Political Management, his lawyer, Agyl Laidj, to Turan. "Azer Gasymly stated during the trial that the charges against him were fabricated and related to his socio-political activities," the lawyer said. An appeal will be filed against the court's decision.
