Ilham Aliyev received the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Italy
Baku/03.04.23/Turan: President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev received Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Italy Edmondo Cirielli, who is in Baku on a visit.
Relations between the two countries are developing in the plane of strategic partnership, and a significant part of cooperation is related to the energy sector, Aliyev said.
Aliyev stressed that "the steps aimed at the energy security of Europe further strengthen the Azerbaijani-Italian cooperation."
Recalling that Italy ranks first in Azerbaijan's trade turnover, Aliyev pointed out that the main part of trade is the export of oil and gas from Azerbaijan. In this context, he noted the need to take additional measures to expand the structure of bilateral cooperation.
Cirielli stressed that Azerbaijan is "a very important country for Italy."
In his opinion, Azerbaijan has "strategic importance of the country from the point of view of stability in the South Caucasus",
He stressed that Azerbaijan pursues an independent and sovereign policy in the region. The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Italy stated that, along with political ties, cooperation between the two countries in the economic sphere is also of particular importance. ---06B---
