Interior Ministry recognized Kekalov's detention 2 days later
Baku/22.11.23/Turan: On November 22, in the morning, the Interior Ministry confirmed the detention of public activist Mohammad Kekalov.
The young man was detained on the morning of November 20 and taken away from home by plainclothes men who also took his computer and mobile phone. The police did not introduce themselves and did not tell Kekalov's family about reasons for his detention.
For two days, Kekalov's relatives and lawyer could not clarify his fate. Finally, today the press service of the Interior Ministry officially confirmed his detention.
“Mohammad Kekalov has been brought to criminal responsibility in the relevant case. An investigation is underway against him," the press service of the Interior Ministry told Turan, adding that he is provided with a lawyer.
However, the lawyer Rovshan Rahimov, with whom Kekalov's family signed a contract, cannot get information about the place of detention of the young man and the reasons for his detention.
Kekalov's colleagues believe that he was detained due to the case against the leaders of "Abzas Media" because of cooperation with this publication.
Recall that on November 20-21, the director and editor–in-chief of "Abzas Media" - Ulvi Hasanli and Sevinj Vagifgizi were detained, who were accused of smuggling foreign currency.
Yesterday, the court detained them for 4 months.
"Abzas Media" is known for journalistic investigations of corruption in the highest echelons of power. –03B06-
