Iraq expressed interest in developing cooperation with Azerbaijan
Baku/04.03.23/Turan: The visit of Iraqi President Abdel Latif Jamal Rashid to Azerbaijan has ended. He took part in the work of the summit of the Non-Aligned Movement Contact Group on Combating COVID-19 held in Baku. The President of Iraq was received by the head of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev during the visit.
During the meeting, Aliyev recalled with satisfaction his participation in the Arab League Summit held in Algeria in 2022 and noted that Azerbaijan attaches special importance to the development of relations with Arab countries, the website of the Azerbaijani president reported.
The President of Iraq stressed that his country is interested in further strengthening relations with Azerbaijan. He noted that there are good opportunities for expanding cooperation.
Aliyev, for his part, pointed to the existence of broad opportunities for close cooperation between the two countries in international organizations, pointing in this context to OPEC+ and other formats.
Aliyev also recalled that during the pandemic, Azerbaijan provided humanitarian support to the Non-Aligned Movement member states, including Iraq. He invited the head of State of Iraq to pay an official visit to Azerbaijan. Abdel Latif Jamal Rashid, accepted the invitation with satisfaction, and conveyed to the head of the Azerbaijani state a counter-offer to pay a visit to Iraq.
During the conversation, the heads of state discussed issues of cooperation in the field of investment, energy, construction, transport, education, noted the importance of expanding mutual trade and organizing visits of business delegations. --06D--
