Lukashenko about the case of Lapshin
The President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko instructed to clarify the case on the transfer to of Azerbaijan the blogger Alexander Lapshin. Lukashenko said about it at the meeting with representatives of the public, Belarusian and foreign mass media, Turan reports citing BELTA.
"There is no reason not to pass him," said the head of state, and reminded that he gave instructions to investigate the situation with the transfer of Alexander Lapshin to Azerbaijan by law. Azerbaijan appealed with this issue not to Belarus, but to Interpol.
"He was detained in accordance with the Interpol decision, and according to the laws we have to pass him to Azerbaijan. Of course, we can release him at all, but it would be wrong," said the President. Lukashenko noted there is no reason not to pass Lapshin no Azerbaijan.
"You say - there is an appeal and so, I am sure that the court will still support our decision because it is legally", he said.
The Minister of Internal Affairs of Belarus Igor Shunevich also supported Alexander Lukashenko.
"I am not going to anticipate the court's decision, but most likely the Court of First Instance took absolutely legal decision", stressed the Minister, and recalled that while there is an appeal, Lapshin will be located on the territory of Belarus.
The President said that after the story of the blogger Alexander Lapshin appeared in the press, he instructed the Foreign Ministry to contact the relevant agencies in Azerbaijan, Israel and Russia.
"I have instructed the Minister to contact his colleagues and agree on this issue, to nicely break up, so that this person does not become hostage. Israel, Azerbaijan and Russia agreed, we would do as they decide, but no one wanted to negotiate," said the head of state. -0-
