
On Monday the 13th meeting of the Council of the EU-Azerbaijan took place in Brussels. The Azerbaijani delegation was headed by Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov.
The EU delegation was led by the Foreign Minister of Cyprus, Erato Kozakou-Marcoullis and Commissioner for Enlargement and European Neighborhood Policy, Stefan Füle.
According to the press service of Foreign Ministry, the sides discussed prospects of cooperation in the framework of the European Neighborhood Policy and the Eastern Partnership format.
The parties welcomed the progress in the negotiations on the signing of the Association Agreement, and noted the importance of continuing discussions. It was noted that the negotiations on visa facilitation and readmission will continue, and hoped to complete this process as soon as possible.
Referring to energy cooperation, the EU noted the importance of Azerbaijan in the realization of the Southern Gas Corridor project and TANAP. The importance of the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway, not only for the South Caucasus and Central Asia and Afghanistan, was noted.—06D-
