Meeting of the Foreign Ministers of Azerbaijan and Georgia
Azerbaijan and Georgia have always been advocates of peace and stability in the region, said Georgia's Foreign Minister Maka Bochorishvili during a joint press conference with Azerbaijan's Foreign Minister, Jeyhun Bayramov, on Thursday. Azerbaijan and Georgia are cooperating intensively on many issues, she stated, and thanked Azerbaijan for "its support to Georgia in various formats." The relationship between Azerbaijan and Georgia plays a very important role in the region, she continued, highlighting Azerbaijan’s role as a major economic partner of Georgia.
In turn, Azerbaijan's Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov said that "important economic projects, which will be beneficial to the entire region," were discussed during the meeting. "I hope that a meeting of the foreign ministers of Azerbaijan, Türkiye, and Georgia will take place soon, and we will discuss even more interesting projects," he said. One of these projects is the creation of fiber-optic communication lines. During the session of the bilateral intergovernmental commission, a detailed exchange of views on these ideas will take place, Bayramov added.
Regarding peace negotiations with Armenia, Bayramov noted significant progress in the implementation of the peace agreement. "At the same time, the presence of provisions in Armenia's Constitution against Azerbaijan's territorial integrity is concerning," he said. Bayramov also expressed concern over "Armenia's active militarization."
