MNS Denies Reports on Arrest of Its High-ranking Officials
The Ministry of National Security of Azerbaijan in the evening on October 21 issued a statement, which denies media reports about the arrest of high-ranking officials of this ministry.
The message reminds that in connection with the facts of the use by MNS officials of their offices for personal gain and other violations of the law, the Prosecutor General's Office has opened a criminal case under the relevant articles of the Criminal Code.
Thus, 7 officials of the MNS are involved in the investigation and accused under Articles 308.2 (abuse of power), 309.1 (exceeding official duties) and 302.2 (violation of the law of operative search activity) of the Criminal Code.
However, as the MNS report says, in a number of electronic media and the press “rumors” are actively spread about the detention of senior management and staff of MNS, as well as their activities not related to official duties.
"The dissemination of such false information of slanderous and insulting character is unacceptable. The MNS continues to ensure stability and security in the country and with the due conscience fulfills all orders and instructions of the President of Azerbaijan, Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces Ilham Aliyev," the statement says.
Note that blaming the media for the dissemination of unverified information, the MNS and the General Prosecutor's Office do not call the names of those arrested, which actually creates a basis for speculation. -0--
