Moscow to Host Armenian-Azerbaijani Dialogue
October 23 in Moscow will host a meeting of Armenian and Azerbaijani Diasporas. The organizers of the meeting are: Federal National-Cultural Autonomy of Russia (FNCA Azerros) and the Union of Armenians of Russia.
According to a press release of Azerros sent to the agency Turan, at a meeting of the Russian President for international relations in August this year, Putin noted the special role of the national-cultural associations in the formation of inter-ethnic harmony in the country. The Russian President said that the contradictions that arise in the sphere of inter-ethnic "can not only undermine our state, but completely destroy its foundations."
The Union of Armenians of Russia and FNCA Azerros as public organizations at the federal level are "aware of their level of responsibility for the implementation of the course of the President of the Russian Federation on the consolidation of society." To this end, the decision to hold a round table, whose task is to develop a mechanism to prevent the transfer to Russia of international conflict.
The topics discussed are as follows:
1. Enhancing the role of the Azerbaijani and Armenian public organizations of Russia in establishing international peace and accord in Russia.
2. Discussion of the draft "Strategy for the State National Policy of the Russian Federation."
3. On measures of consolidation of public authorities and civil society in combating international conflicts and radical xenophobia.
4. The role of the national media in the consolidation of the multinational Russian society.
The meeting will address other issues that raise the round table, and on the results of the discussion to be appealed.

On January 13, the trial in the case of public activist Nijat Ibrahim continued in the Baku Serious Crimes Court under the chairmanship of Judge Aygun Gurbanova. The trial was suspended after Ibrahim, in protest against the illegal arrest, began banging his head against the "aquarium cage", trying to commit suicide. The International Committee of Concerned Scholars (ICS) has appealed to the President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, requesting his assistance in securing the release of the arrested researcher, Igbal Abilov. The ICS expressed concern that Abilov's arrest "may be related to his research on ethnic minorities in Azerbaijan, conducted in collaboration with scholars from Armenia."
