Musavat Party's Headquarters Surrounded by Police
Baku / 28.06.19 / Turan: The Musavat party's headquarters was surrounded by police on Friday afternoon and the police did not allow anyone to enter the building. Turan was told by the head of the party"s press service, Mustafa Hajibeyli.
This situation lasted for one day. "We were told that we are not advised to enter the headquarters and are not allowed to do this. However, several people remained in the building," said Hajibeyli.
According to Hajibeyli, on June 28, he himself was called to the Binagadi district execution and probation department of the Ministry of Justice. "When a charity marathon was being conducted at the headquarters and the police entered the building, a call arrived on my phone and I was urgently called to the aforementioned department. They took my fingerprints. My lawyers said this department did not have such powers. When I returned, I was not allowed to the headquarters," he said, saying that his call to this department was connected with the Marathon of Solidarity, which was organized at the headquarters of Musavat by the Committee against Repression and Torture on June 28.
The rally was held to support activists who participated in protest actions since the end of last year and were fined for that. However, after the intervention of police officers of the Binagadi district of Baku, the marathon was disrupted. PFPA Chairman Ali Kerimli was detained, but an hour later he was released after a warning.
According to the head of the Musavat administration, Gulaga Aslanly, by the end of the working day, all the representatives of the organization"s leadership in the party"s office left the building. At the time of their departure, the police remained at the headquarters.
Mustafa Hajibeyli was conditionally sentenced to 5 years and 6 months imprisonment on February 21. He was found guilty under Articles of Criminal Code 281.2, 309.2, and 313 for distributing articles related to the Ganja events. -21D--
