Nakhchivan hosted a meeting of the Ministers of Defense of Azerbaijan and Turkey
Baku/10.06.09/Turan: The Minister of Defense of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Colonel General Zakir Hasanov has met with the Minister of National Defense of the Republic of Turkey, Hulusi Akar who is visiting our country, in Nakhchivan on June 10.
Then, during the meeting held with the participation of delegations, the Minister of Defense of Azerbaijan welcoming the guests, stressed that military cooperation between Azerbaijan and Turkey is built on fraternal and friendly relations, adding that these relations are constantly developing and meet the interests of our countries.
Colonel General Z. Hasanov particularly stressed that Azerbaijan is expanding cooperation with Turkey in the military, military-technical and military-educational fields to strengthen the country's military power and this is the main factor of ensuring stability in the region.
The Turkish Minister, in turn, expressed satisfaction with the fraternal and friendly relationship and the level of fruitful cooperation between our countries. The guest spoke about the significance of joint military exercises conducted with the participation of various types of troops, as well as mutual visits and meetings of military experts of the two countries.
The sides, highly appreciating the results achieved during the Azerbaijani-Turkish Live-Firing Joint Tactical Exercises "Indestructible Brotherhood-2019", noted the importance of conducting such exercises.
During the meeting, a wide exchange of views was also held on other issues related to regional and mutual cooperation.-0-

The losses in Azerbaijan’s defense and security sector for the first 11 months of 2024 amounted to at least 50 people. Of these, 48 were non-combat losses. On Friday, the State Security Service (SGB) issued an official statement confirming the arrest of Gahraman Mammadov, the assistant military attaché of Azerbaijan in the U.S., who was previously detained in Istanbul with 70 kg of gold. Mammadov is accused of smuggling in conspiracy with another Azerbaijani citizen, Anar Gassimov, and foreign nationals.
