New EU Special Representative for the South Caucasus
The German diplomat Herbert Salber has been appointed as new EU Special Representative for the South Caucasus. This was reported on June 12 by the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Catherine Ashton, who represented Salber to a new position.
"I'm glad to announce the appointment of Ambassador Herbert Salber to this important post. His extensive experience and knowledge are an important resource for the EU, and we look forward to the results of his work," said Ashton.
Salber replaced the French diplomat Philippe Lefort.
Salber previously worked in the German diplomatic missions in Belgrade, Vienna and Moscow.
