NIDA Activists Arrested for Political Reasons, Human Rights Activists
The Alliance for Protection of Political Freedom has expressed concern at the arrest of activists of NIDA and condemned the actions of the authorities. The statement of the Alliance states that real and virtual lives of young people are in advance monitored by the security services.
The Alliance believes that the arrest of young people is connected to their social activities, and in particular with the upcoming March 10 action against the soldiers’ deaths.
The Alliance believes the arrests are politically motivated and are regarded as a violation of freedom of assembly.
The Alliance calls on the authorities not to take such steps, to respect the international commitments of Azerbaijan in the field of human rights and to immediately release those arrested.
* The Alliance for Protection of Political Freedoms was established on February 3 by a group of journalists, civil society activists and human rights defenders as NGO active in the propagation of ideas of political pluralism and protection of political freedoms. -06D -
