Nigar Yagublu arrest term extended
A youth activist of the party Musavat Nigar Yagublu was left in custody by the Absheron court decision yesterday. She is accused of committing a car accident that killed a man, and was arrested two months ago.
Yagublu's lawyers noted at the meeting that the two-month period of Yagublu's arrest expired on 8 November and her detention is illegal. Then the judge Ilham Kerimli said "the law is void to an extent" and prolonged the detention by three days.
The lawyers also petitioned to replace the restrictive measure of arrest by house arrest, but the judge denied the motion.
Recall that the accident occurred in August, with the activist of Musavat Aydin Adzhalov killed. The investigation alleges that the wheel was at Yagublu, but she denies it. The next hearing is scheduled for November 23.
After the meeting, the father of the arrested, Tofig Yagublu told reporters that he considers the decision of the court illegal. Then the police detained him, saying that "Yagublu swore loudly." A few hours later he was released. -02D-
