Governmental press services even ignore state newspaper
In today's state newspaper Azerbaijan a devastating article was published on the entire strip titled "Press services hiding from the press."
The author Irada Aliyeva is concerned that the press services of the executive authorities of the capital, the capital's education department, the Ministry of Transport, Azersu and Azerigaz (water and gas suppliers) could not be reached and never provide full reports. The press services of power departments are generally limited to press releases. Even hospitals of the Defense Ministry do not give any information, citing the need to obtain a license.
For several years, the country's media complain that the press service of the government agencies do not pay attention to official inquiries.
Ignoring of the appeals of journalists by the press services has reached such a level that this time the main official newspaper of the country had to respond severely.
According to experts, the happening is a logical result of government policies to minimize the role of the press services of ministries and departments. These staff positions just play the role of atavism. The reason is that the authorities have long ceased to respond to any complaints and appeals of the public. A bad example is contagious. -17B-
