No Opposition in New Parliament of Armenia
Baku / 10.12.18 / Turan: At 7:30 am on Monday, the Central Election Commission of Armenia completed the electronic processing of 100% of ballots from all 2,010 polling stations.
In the early parliamentary elections, with a score of 70.43% (884,456), the My Step bloc of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan won the victory.
The second place with 8.27% (103,824) was taken by the Prosperous Armenia party, whose leader Gagik Tsarukyan repeatedly expressed support for Pashinyan.
Pashinyan's allies in the face of the Enlightened Armenia party received 6.37% (80,024), taking the third place.
The rest of the political forces did not overcome the necessary barrier for passing to the National Assembly of Armenia.
Thus, in the new parliament elected for 5 years, only Nikol Pashinyan and his allies in the "velvet revolution" will be colleagues, www.news.am website notes.
However, the Constitution of Armenia guarantees the opposition 1/3 of the MP seats, so we should expect that Prosperous Armenia and Enlightened Armenia will declare themselves a constructive opposition.
The former ruling Republican Party ranked fourth only, receiving 4.7% (59,059) of votes.
The Dashnaktsutyun party, which received 3.89% (48,811), did not get into parliament either.
The radicals from Sasna Tzrer received 1.82% (22,862) of the votes.
Thus, in Armenia a complete change of power has taken place, and all recently influential forces and people lost. It should be expected that in the near future these forces will unite and act as a single bloc against the Pashinyan government. -02D-
