On Russian Foreign Minister�s Visit to Baku
Moscow / 13.12.18 / Turan: On December 13-14, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov will be in Baku in connection with the Council of Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation Organization"s meeting in the capital of Azerbaijan. This was stated by the press service of the Russian Foreign Ministry.
The Russian Minister will be received by President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and have talks with Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov.
The parties will discuss key aspects of bilateral cooperation, regional and international agenda, the report says.
"Russia and Azerbaijan are building a strategic partnership based on the principles of equality, good neighborliness and mutual respect. Trade and economic and interregional cooperation is actively developing. An important component of the Russian-Azerbaijani interaction remains the humanitarian sphere, with an emphasis on strengthening the common linguistic, educational and cultural space inherited by us.
Russia is actively working together with other OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs for the peaceful settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
The upcoming meetings are a continuation of the line on the development of the Russian-Azerbaijani constructive political dialogue in the interests of our countries," the report says. -02D-

The European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) today issued five rulings on applications from Azerbaijan. The case of "Afgan Mammadov v. Azerbaijan" concerned the complainant's exclusion from the Bar Association. Mammadov was expelled based on a complaint filed by a colleague, which he considered unjust. The ECHR ruled that Mammadov's rights had been violated and ordered Azerbaijan to pay him €5,000 in compensation for moral damage and €1,000 to cover legal costs.

During the ongoing COP29 climate conference in Baku on November 14, a group of activists staged a protest condemning Russia's aggression against Ukraine. The activists also denounced countries that supply oil and weapons to nations waging aggressive wars. The protest featured placards with slogans such as: "From fossil fuels to peace!", "End war crimes!", "Punish the aggressor!", and "Phase out fossil fuel use to achieve peace!" among others.
