Police Apply Violence Not to Allow Musavat Members to Monument to Khojaly Victims
Baku / 02.26.19 / Turan: A large group of members of the Musavat Party was subjected to violence by the police, who did not allow them to the monument to the Khojaly victims.
The policemen in civilian clothes and uniforms blocked the way of the Musavatists and demanded that they throw flowers on the ground before reaching the monument. This demand aroused the indignation of members of the opposition party who refused to do so. The confrontation with the police lasted about half an hour. Making sure that the Musavatists would not retreat, the police used brute force, pushing about a hundred people away from the monument.
In their comments, the leader of Musavat, Arif Hajili, and the former leader of this party, Isa Gambar, called the actions of the police "disgrace" and "mockery".
During the incident with the police, an official of the party"s press service, Mehman Kamran, was injured and had to be hospitalized after an ambulance call. -03B-
