Political analysts are skeptical about President Ilham Aliyev"s speech
Political scientists and experts are skeptical about emotional statements of Ilham Aliyev on misconduct of officials and their children, corruption and violation of the rights of entrepreneurs at a recent meeting on the development of regions.
Political analyst Zardusht Alizadeh, commenting on the speech, said that the situation and the mood in the country cause the head of state to come down to earth, and realize that the real world, which citizens live, is not the world of oil, gas business and luxury; it is something another.
"Aliyev's speech has shown that he can not deal with the essence of problems, he can only comment on their impact," he said.
Answering the question will there be actual steps, a political scientist gave a negative answer. "There will not be any real steps, all that is show off. Everyting in this country is show off, except the appropriation of oil and gas revenues. Therefore, I think that the problems concerning the public economy and politics will not be solved, such as corruption, " said Alizadeh.
"We are constantly told that the fight against corruption is ongoing; they say that they byuild legal society , but it is not so; the authorities themselves suppress democracy and freedom, brutally suppressing the rights of citizens," said the analyst.
They should cooperate with civil society, rather than fight againstit. It will testify the will of authorities to solve the problem. In fact, officials are appointed to public office through bribes, they are forced to collect the money and send the top, they are made to plunder the state budget. How can people believe in the call to fight corruption?
People see it all, and do not believe the authorities, and the energy which has accumulated over years, and frustration lead to social explosions. "And then the first person comes to the scene and tells officials: behave well, otherwise I will punish you," this is ridiculous, Alizadeh said.
Why do you expect any excesses? After all, the press and civil society for years trumpeted violations and corruption. Those who want to correct the situation, would reacted to this, and do not bring to the crisis, stressed Zardusht Alizadeh.
Another political scientist, head of the NGO "East-West" Arastun Orujlu, commenting on the speech of the President Ilham Aliyev, called it the reaction of the first-person response to the protests in Baku, in the shopping center "Bina", and the unrest in Ismailli.
"I have not seen an adequate assessment of the incident, and a clear understanding of the issues. On the one hand, he admits that he knows everything about the arbitrariness of officials, arrogant behavior of members of their families, violations of human rights. At the same time, he only warns them," he said.
If the president punished someone specifically, people would he believe him, president's fiery speech will be quickly forgotten, said Orujlu. -03B-
