Press Council wants to control the Internet
A commission on Internet resources was created at today's meeting of the Press Council. The head of this organ, controlled by the state, Aflatun Amashov said that online resources have been functioning for a long time, the media are even more active and popular, than traditional media. Therefore, they should be subject to the relevant legislation and requirements.
There are complaints about violations of journalistic ethics on the part of those resources. Therefore, monitoring will be conducted to control the situation in this area. The head of the commission was appointed Elnur Baimov who owns several pro-government sites.
The meeting participants noted the need for legislative changes to control Internet resources.
Most of the independent and opposition media are not part of the Press Council, or suspended their membership in this structure. -16D-
