EU provides support in the area of radiation safety
The Ministry of Emergency Situations and State Agency on Nuclear and Radiological Activity Regulation of the Republic of Azerbaijan together with the Radiation Protection Centre and the Central Project Management Agency of the Republic of Lithuania present the new Twinning Project “Strengthening of Radiation Safety Infrastructure and Development of Supporting Services of the Republic of Azerbaijan".
The presentation of this EU-funded Project, linking Azerbaijan and Lithuania, will be held on Friday, February 15, 2013 at 11:00hrs in the State Agency on Nuclear and Radiological Activity Regulation, N.Rafiyev 26, Baku, AZ 1025, Azerbaijan.
This event will be opened by Mr. Faig TAGI-ZADE, Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Azerbaijan. The participants will be addressed by: His Excellency Mr. Roland KOBIA, Ambassador of the European Union to the Republic of Azerbaijan, His Excellency Mr. Artūras ŽURAUSKAS, Ambassador of the Lithuania to the Republic of Azerbaijan, Mr. Albinas Mastauskas, Director of the Lithuanian Radiation Protection Centre.
The purpose of this 24-month long project is to increase the surveillance of exposures from ionizing radiation in the Republic of Azerbaijan and to enhance the energy policy convergence in the field of control of all types of radiation sources. The Project funded by the European Union will provide assistance to the Ministry of Emergency Situations and State Agency on Nuclear and Radiological Activity Regulation. Total value of the contract amounts to € 950,000.00. Twinning Project duration – 24 month. -0-

On the evening of February 5, it was reported that journalist Shahnaz Beylargizi had been arrested. She had been a presenter on the Toplum TV channel for several years. After a criminal case was initiated against the channel in March 2024 and nearly all of its staff were arrested, Beylargizi was questioned multiple times. According to relatives, the police conducted a search of her apartment.
