"In the next year, the growth in aluminum prices in world markets will be significant, and in this regard, Tajikistan plans to bring the production of this metal to 245.5 thousand tons in 2019 (in the first half of this year, the country produced only 46.7 thousand tons aluminum worth $ 99.5 million).
Therefore, one of the main topics of the forthcoming talks in Baku will be an increase in the volume of transit of Tajik aluminum through Azerbaijan and the supply of alumina from Azerbaijan to Tajikistan," a source in the Tajik government said.
According to him, the bulk of the trade turnover between Tajikistan and Azerbaijan is aluminum, which is transported via Azerbaijan's sea and railroad routes to Europe. Tajikistan buys alumina, coke and other raw materials in Azerbaijan.
According to statistical data for the past year, the total volume of mutual trade turnover between the two countries amounted to about $ 13 million.
The contractual and legal framework for cooperation is secured by more than 40 agreements in the trade-economic, banking, tax, cultural and investment spheres. -02D-
