Problem of elections in Azerbaijan are discussed at the OSCE meeting in Vienna
Issues of democratic elections in Azerbaijan were discussed in Vienna at a working meeting "Democratic elections and observation of elections" which took place late last week. The meeting was organized by the ODIHR and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ireland, which chairs the OSCE.
Anar Mamedov, the head of the Election Monitoring and Democracy Studies Center (EMDSC) speaking at the meeting noted that after the parliamentary elections of November 7, 2010, the situation with political freedom in the country has not improved. Not any steps have been made to improve the electoral atmosphere, and ignored recommendations of ODIHR observation mission of OSCE.
Mamedli noted the necessity for conducting on the eve of presidential election in 2013 a dialogue with participation of all interested parties for providing political freedom, and attracting the Venice Commission to this process. -06D-
