Red Cross visits Azerbaijani and Armenian prisoners
Baku/28.11.23/Turan: In November, representatives of the ICRC visited all Armenians detained in Azerbaijan, as well as Azerbaijanis held in Armenia. Private meetings were held with the detainees and they were given the opportunity to contact their families, the message of the ICRC Baku office. According to the mandate, during such visits, the ICRC evaluates the treatment of detainees and conditions of detention and helps them maintain contact with their families.
In accordance with the ICRC procedures, recommendations based on the results of visits are communicated only to the detaining party.
Two Azerbaijani soldiers are in custody in Armenia; the number of Armenian prisoners in Azerbaijan is several dozen; almost the entire leadership of the former Nagorno-Karabakh is among them, the official data. -0-
