Regional conference opened in Tbilisi: "Media in times of war"
Baku/12.10.22/Turan: “Media in times of war” - this is the theme of the regional conference which opened on October 12 in Tbilisi.
According to Turan's special correspondent from Tbilisi, the event was organized by the Council of Europe for media representatives, media experts, civil society activists from the EU Eastern Partnership countries - Azerbaijan, Armenia, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine.
The need to hold the forum arose due to the ongoing war in Ukraine, which greatly influenced the media environment not only in this country, but throughout the region as well.
The intensification of the information and propaganda war significantly affects the regional media landscape.
Since February 2022, journalists and media organizations have been facing the challenge of countering disinformation, increasing hate and propaganda in the media.
The conference agenda includes topics such as “Media in Ukraine before and after February 24, 2022”, “Hate speech in the media: how Russia’s aggression against Ukraine has accelerated existing challenges”, “Safety of journalists during the war”, “Regulation of the media during War and Armed Conflicts”, “Combating Information Disorder and Propaganda”, “Mass Media Coverage of the Conflict”.
As a result of the conference, it is expected to develop recommendations for the media of the countries of the region.
Within the framework of the conference, a photo exhibition is held: “The aggressive war of Russia against Ukraine: the work of journalists”, as well as a screening of the documentary film “Mariupol-2”, presented at the Cannes Film Festival. 06C
