Russian MFA: Novruz Mamedov’s Statement «Unscrupulous» and «Perverse»
The deputy head of the Presidential Administration Novruz Mammadov has found himself in an unpleasant situation after his statement on the phased settlement of the Karabakh conflict was called “unscrupulous.”
Such a negative assessment came during the June 23 briefing at the Russian Foreign Ministry from the press secretary of the Ministry Maria Zakharova.
Asked to comment on the interpretation of the results of the meeting in St. Petersburg by Azerbaijan, she said she believes these statements are an attempt of the Azerbaijani side "to interpret the agreements in its own way."
As is known, the Russian, Azerbaijani and Armenian Presidents adopted a tripartite statement, which clearly states that they confirmed progress in the last Armenian-Azerbaijani summit in Vienna on May 16 of this year and the agreement aimed at stabilizing the situation in the conflict zone and the creation of an atmosphere conducive to advancing the peace process. To this end, they agreed, in particular, to increase the number of international observers in the conflict zone. Satisfaction was also expressed with the continuing recent ceasefire regime on the contact line, she said.
Zakharova asked to abide by "the original statement and not by rather unscrupulous statements, which contain attempts to interpret the results of the meeting."
"There is a specific statement that was made public and is an official document. Everyone should refer to it, and not to free readings or some perverse interpretations by anyone," she added.
Ready to respond immediately to any statement, Novruz Mamedov this time is silent. Just before that he accused of telling lies the Armenian Foreign Minister Nalbandian, who called fiction Mamedov’s statement about reaching a gradual settlement agreement. However, he does not react to the words said by Zakharova. Apparently chivalry does not allow. -02D-
