Salaries of Employees in All Law Enforcement Agencies Increased (Updated)
On January 27, Ilham Aliyev signed a decree to increase by 10% the monthly salary of servicemen on active duty in the Main Directorate of Internal Troops of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Azerbaijan, effective from January 1, 2025.
Salaries of employees in various law enforcement agencies have also been increased by 10%. This includes:
- Employees of the Penitentiary Service and its Main Medical Directorate
- Servicemen on active duty in the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA)
- MIA employees with special ranks
- Servicemen of the State Security Service on active duty
- Employees of the Foreign Intelligence Service
- Employees of the Migration Service with special ranks
- Employees of the State Customs Committee with special ranks
- Servicemen of the Border Service on active duty
- Servicemen of the Ministry of Emergency Situations on active duty and with special ranks
- Servicemen of the State Service for Mobilization
- Servicemen of the State Service for Communications and Information Security
- Servicemen of the State Agency for the Protection of Strategic Objects
- Servicemen of the Presidential Security Service
At the same time, the monthly salaries of civilian employees in the above-mentioned agencies have also been increased by 10%.

On January 27, during the winter session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) in Strasbourg, a debate was held on the state of affairs in member states in 2024. As a result, Resolution No. 2580 was adopted, stating that PACE highly appreciates the work of the Monitoring Committee, which oversees the situation in 14 countries. The document expresses concern about the backsliding of democracy and human rights violations in several countries, including Azerbaijan and Georgia.
