Senate Resolution Calls into Question France's Neutrality - Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry
Baku / 25,11.20 / Turan: The resolution adopted today by the French Senate on "The need for recognition of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic" does not have legal force, but has political significance and casts doubt on the neutrality of Paris in the Karabakh conflict. This is stated by the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry.
The adoption by the Senate of a completely biased resolution under the influence of the Armenian lobby can only be regarded as a provocation, the Foreign Ministry of Azerbaijan believes.
At the same time, the statement of the Foreign Ministry emphasizes that the resolution adopted by the Senate has no legal force.
Nevertheless, given the political significance of the resolution, the adoption of such a document in a country with a mediating mandate seriously casts doubt on the neutrality of this state, the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry said. It also undermines France's reputation as a fair broker in the eyes of the Azerbaijani public.
At the same time, the statement of the Foreign Ministry draws attention to the fact that the official position of the French Republic on the settlement of the conflict was voiced by high-ranking statesmen, including the President and the Foreign Minister of this country, and Paris supports the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan.
This is reflected both in the documents signed in a bilateral format and with the European Union. The Secretary of State of the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs, who spoke at the discussions in the Senate, also expressed an official position in his speech, the statement of the Foreign Ministry of Azerbaijan further says.—06D-
