Sunday"s rally showed popular support for Jamil Gasanli
Baku/23.09.13/Turan : Sunday meeting of the National Council of Democratic Forces ( NCDF ) in support of the candidate for the presidency was a success , the head of the Rallies Committee, deputy chairman of the Popular Front Asef Guliyev said.
" The rally in registration, content and emotional recovery was very different from the previous ones," Guliyev told Turan.
As for the number of participants , it did not fully meet the expectations .
"Given the nature of the campaign you would expect more activity , but still the Sunday demonstration was the largest mass action after the parliamentary elections of 2005.
Most importantly , the rally showed a rising trend of civic activity , indicating that the support of Jamil Gasanli and the National Council , "- said Guliyev .
According to him , the rally was attended by about 10,000 people. Part of the protesters stood along the walls of the stadium , so the protesters were more.
On the other hand, the authorities obstructed citizens going to the rally .
So, after the beginning of the action the police did not allow citizens into the stadium.
Five young men were detained for wearing T-shirts that read: "Vote for Jamil Gasanli" .
According to Guliyev, campaign rallies for Gasanli will continue in the regions.
So , they are scheduled for September 29 in Ganja , 30 September in Agdash , October 4 in Saatly , and October 5 in Sumgait .
Just before the election, on 6 or 7 October there will be a new rally in Baku. - 06B -
