The authorities did not authorize the rally by "Musavat"
Baku / 03/05/19 / Turan: The executive power of Baku did not authorize march-rally of the Musavat Party scheduled for March 10, said the adviser to the head of the party, Razim Amirasanly.
The city administration did not recognize the expediency of holding the action and motivated it by the density of traffic on the routes proposed by the party.
The head of the press service of the Musavat party, Mustafa Hajibeyli, called the decision of the city authorities "illegal."
"Once again, freedom of assembly has been violated in Azerbaijan.
For the sake of convenience and safety of high-ranking officials and even their family members, Baku regularly blocks traffic for hours in Baku," said Hajibeyli.
He stressed that Musavat offered to hold a demonstration along two possible routes, on the outskirts of the city: from the Azadlig metro station - Darnagul and from the January 20 metro station to the Mehsul Stadium.
"It was enough to block all traffic on one street for 1 hour. The authorities simply did not allow the action because of the fears of a large number of participants. Otherwise, it would suggest an alternative route. They are afraid of gatherings of people, anywhere," said Hajibeyli.
The action participants will demand the release of political prisoners, the fight against corruption and the solution of social problems. -06D--
