The authorities do not give permission for a meeting of the National Council on January 26
Baku/24.01.19/Turan: On Thursday the Baku"s Municipality rejected the request of the National Council of Democratic Forces to hold a rally on January 26.
According to sources in the National Council, the refusal is motivated by the fact that after the previous meeting of the National Council on January 19 and during the ceremony of visiting the Alley of Martyrs on January 20, there were violations of public order.
After that, the police chief of the capital, Mirgafar Seyidov, appealed to the Mayor"s Office not to give permission to hold street opposition actions.
After the rally on the 19th and during the march on January 20, about two dozen opposition activists were arrested on charges of disturbing public order.
The National Council of Democratic Forces intends to hold a meeting and decide on its further actions, the same sources reported. -16 / 03B-
