The ECHR has satisfied the complaints of Meydan TV employees
Baku/21.09.23/Turan: On September 21, the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) adopted 7 decisions and rulings on 44 applications from Azerbaijan, the website reports aihmaz.org .
In the case "Aynur Gambarova, Natig Javadli and Aytaj Ahmadova v. Azerbaijan", these journalists, employees of the independent media resource Meydan TV, complained of illegal detention in 2015 at the Baku airport. They were told that the ban was related to the prosecutor's office's investigation against Meydan TV.
The ECHR recognized the violation of their freedom of movement and the right to effective protection. The government must pay each complainant 5 thousand euros for moral damage and 500 euros for court costs.
In the case of Murad Muradov v. the Government of Azerbaijan, the applicant complained of unjustified administrative arrest. In this case, the Government offered a settlement agreement and expressed readiness to pay him compensation for 3,500 euros. In this regard, the ECHR excluded these cases from the list of pending appeals.
The ECHR also satisfied the complaints of religious figures Ilham Aliyev and Sardar Babayev on pre-trial arrest and decided to pay them 3,500 euros and 5,000 euros, respectively.
In the complaint of Lachyn Veliyev about the pre-trial arrest, the government recognized the violation and agreed to pay him compensation for 3,500 euros. ----06B----
