The Armenian government is thinking: should Armenians stay in Karabakh?
Baku/21.09.23/Turan: The Armenian government is currently in discussions with their colleagues in Karabakh regarding humanitarian matters, including the potential evacuation of individuals who wish to relocate to Armenia. This information was conveyed to "Armenpress" news agency by the office of the Prime Minister.
Within the Armenian Cabinet, it is emphasized that decisions in this regard will be made in accordance with the prevailing circumstances and contingent upon the outcomes of discussions involving representatives from Nagorno-Karabakh, Azerbaijan, and Russian peacekeepers.
The Armenian government has not previously raised the issue of evacuating Armenians from Nagorno-Karabakh and maintains that the right of Armenians in Nagorno-Karabakh to live safely and with dignity in their homes must be guaranteed. However, in the event that it is deemed impossible for Armenians to continue living in Nagorno-Karabakh, or a portion of them, the necessary decisions will be taken. Preparations and contingency plans have been developed to facilitate such scenarios.
In a televised address on September 20, President Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan stated that the Armenian population in Karabakh will soon witness positive changes. He remarked, "Today, ordinary Armenians living in Karabakh have a new historic opportunity. Do not miss it. Azerbaijan is a multi-ethnic, multi-confessional state. We have never had and will never have discrimination based on religious or national identity."--0--
