The European Council will hold a special meeting on assistance to Ukraine
Baku/27.05.22/ Turan: On May 27, President Charles Michel sent a letter to the members of the European Council ahead of a special meeting on May 30-31. “We are going to a special meeting of the European Council on May 30-31 to continue our discussions on how to help Ukraine in matters of energy, food security and defense.
Ukraine demonstrates incredible courage and dignity in the face of Russian aggression and atrocities. From the very first day, we have been unwavering in our humanitarian, financial, military and political support for the Ukrainian people and their leadership. We will continue to put pressure on Russia. Our unity has always been our strongest asset. This remains our guiding principle,” the message, quoted by the press service of the European Council, says.
“President Zelensky will join us via video link. One of our most urgent tasks is to help the Ukrainian state, together with our international partners, meet its needs. We will also discuss how best to organize our support for the reconstruction of Ukraine, since the restoration of the country will require a major global effort,” the message says.
The message also said that Russian aggression could have serious consequences for global food security and hunger in many parts of the world.
“Russia's war against Ukraine has further strengthened our aspirations for a strong and coordinated European defense. The European Defense Agency has been instructed to analyze the situation and propose initiatives to strengthen the European defense industry,” Michel stressed. -02D-
