The founding congress of the Republican Alternative party will be held on August 4
Baku/03.08.20/Turan: On Tuesday, August 4, the founding congress of the Republican Alternative Party (ReAl) will be held. Ilgar Mammadov, a member of the organizing committee for the forum, said in a statement to the media that in connection with the restrictions imposed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the constituent congress would be held online.
The purpose of the congress is the adoption of the program, the charter of the party, the formation of governing bodies and an appeal to the Ministry of Justice for official state registration of the organization.
In December 2019 and June 2020 the organizing committee appealed to the authorities withj request to provide a place for the congress, but was refused.
“We hope that our rights, guaranteed by the Constitution of Azerbaijan and the European Convention on freedom of assembly and association, will not be violated, and taking into account the circumstances in which holding the congress offline is not possible, the congress will be recognized as authorized and the party will be officially registered”, said Mamedov. He noted that representatives of the Ministry of Justice were also invited to the congress.
It is expected that up to 100 people will take part in the congress taking ng into account the possibilities of the ZOOM conference.
The Republican Alternative Movement was established in 2009 with the aim of promoting the establishment of republican democratic values in Azerbaijan. In April 2018, the movement was officially announced as a party. — 06B-
