The head of state ordered to investigate the question of the remains of Mikyail Mushvig
Baku / 10.31.18 / Turan: Late-day media publications about the discovery of the remains of a well-known Azerbaijani poet and the victim of Stalinist repression Mikyail Mushvig attracted the attention of the head of state, stated Assistant to the President of the country Ali Hasanov. To investigate this issue, the president ordered the creation of an interdepartmental commission of representatives from the Academy of Sciences, the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Culture and other structures. According to the order, the alleged remains of Mushvig will be subjected to appropriate DNA examination. If it is confirmed that these are his remains, then all measures will be taken for his reburial," official media quoted Hasanov as saying.
A few days ago a group of enthusiasts led by journalist Eynulla Fatullayev excavated at a place of mass execution of victims of repression near Baku. The group said it had found the remains of the poet and attempted to obtain an official investigation. However, the Minister of Culture Abulfaz Karayev and a number of other state officials spoke out sharply against this, after which the conversation on this topic was closed.
