The number of parties participating in the elections reached 20
Baku / 26.12.19 / Turan: The number of political parties that wished to participate in the February 9, 2020 parliamentary elections reached 20, was told at a meeting of the Central Election Commission on Thursday after the registration of the representative of the Party of Citizens and Development.
So far, representatives of 15 parties have received registration: New Azerbaijan, Umid, Civil Solidarity, Great Creation, People’s Front of Unified Azerbaijan, National Revival Movement, National Independence, Democratic Party , Great Azerbaijan, United Azerbaijan, Ana Veten, Takamyul, Musavat, Social Welfare, Vahdat, Democratic Reforms, Liberal Democratic Party, Democratic Enlightenment, "Modern Musavat."
Members of the REAL party will also take part in the elections; however, due to the lack of registration of this party, its members will take part in the elections individually.
It should be noted that the main opposition force in the person of the Popular Front Party and the National Council of Democratic Forces boycott the elections. -02D-

On the evening of February 5, it was reported that journalist Shahnaz Beylargizi had been arrested. She had been a presenter on the Toplum TV channel for several years. After a criminal case was initiated against the channel in March 2024 and nearly all of its staff were arrested, Beylargizi was questioned multiple times.
