The Opening of the Azerbaijani Embassy in Israel - "a Matter of Time"

Azerbaijan and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) plan in June of this year to hold in Baku an international donor conference on Palestine. This was said at the press conference by the Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan Elmar Mammadyarov after his talks with his Romanian counterpart Titus Korlatseanean.

At the same time, Azerbaijan is developing cooperation with Israel. During a recent visit to Israel Mammadyarov discussed the issue of opening of the Azerbaijani Embassy in that country. "It's a matter of time," he said.

Referring to the forthcoming meeting of the Foreign Ministers of Azerbaijan and Armenia in Cracow on May 17-18, Mammadyarov said that negotiations are continuing on the basis of the updated "Madrid principles". According to him, Azerbaijan accepts these principles, but Armenia does not.

Mammadyarov agreed with the assessment of Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov that at the negotiations on the Karabakh settlement there is no progress.

As for the Azerbaijani-Romanian relations, the sides stressed the strategic nature of the partnership.

The Romanian side is interested in increasing investment of SOCAR in this country. Bucharest also supports Nabucco and AGRI gas transportation projects (the latter means delivery of liquefied natural gas from Azerbaijan to Romania via Georgia).

Romania also offers its transport infrastructure for transshipment of goods from the Caspian and the Black Sea region through the port of Constantsa on the Danube to Europe.

According to the Romanian Minister, he invited Mammadyarov to visit Bucharest for an official visit.

At the talks with the President and the Prime Minister of Azerbaijan the sides also discussed the implementation of their visits to Romania. -03C06-
