The situation with Jerusalem smells like war, an expert
Baku / 12.12.17 / Turan: Recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel is not a new issue. The US Congress has long recognized this. However, concrete steps in this direction were not taken, stated the Farda Asadov, commenting at the request of Turan the situation around the recognition of Jerusalem by Donald Tramp as the capital of Israel, and the transfer of the US embassy there. Trump, in accordance with his policy, took this drastic step, which caused sharp protests in the United States, a number of Arab and other countries. Against this background, the Arab world demonstrates rapprochement with Russia, which increases Moscow's role in the Middle East.
Asadov did not rule out that the aggravation of the situation could cause a war in the Middle East on one or another scale. "The Arab world is experiencing a crisis and among the Gulf countries there are differences on this issue," Asadov said.
As for expectations from the extraordinary summit of the heads of the states of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, scheduled for December 13 in Istanbul, Asadov said: "I do not think that there will be any decisions about the use of force or calls for this. The situation may be more similar to the one close to the war, but in fact the reverse may happen - an urgent call for peace talks.
There are also possible calls for certain sanctions, but it is difficult to say, "Asadov said.
In his opinion, holding a summit in Turkey enhances its authority in the Islamic world.-05B06-
