“Time TV” appealed to international institutions in connection with the arrest of Teymur Kerimov
Baku/12.13.23/Turan: The “Time TV” media group operating abroad appealed to international organizations in connection with the increased pressure on the free press in Azerbaijan. The appeal was accepted the day after the arrest of journalist Teymur Kerimov, who cooperates with this media outlet. The document says that reporter Teymur Kerimov has been a representative of the “Time TV” media group in Azerbaijan for more than a year.
The petition says that pressure on the free Azerbaijani-language media has increased in recent days. "The websites of these media outlets are blocked on politically motivated instructions without a court decision. Access to the timetv.live website of the “Time TV” media group has been blocked in Azerbaijan for more than two years. The site was repeatedly attacked by hackers and was forced to cease its activities," the appeal further says.
The “Time TV” media group has been in existence for 3 years. The head of the group is Fikret Huseynli, a foreign correspondent of the “Azadlig” newspaper, whose websites are blocked in the country.
*On December 12, the Narimanov District Court of Baku chose a preventive measure against Teymur Kerimov for a period of 4 months. Teymur Kerimov was found guilty under the Articles 182.2.2 (extortion by threats, committed repeatedly) and 182.2.4 of the Criminal Code (extortion by threat in order to seize someone else's property on a large scale.) Kerimov denied the charges and linked the criminal case to his journalistic activities. –03B06-
