Turkey Offers to Undertake Hajj Organization
Turkey's ruling party Justice and Regeneration (AKP) offered to give Turkey the right to organize the annual Muslim pilgrimage to Mecca.
The offer comes amid a series of accidents in the current hajj, which led to the deaths of more than 1 thousand pilgrims.
AKP Deputy Chairman Mehmet Sahin in particular stated that the cause of the death of so many people was gaps in the security system and the organization of mass events.
"It is unacceptable to explain what happened with the dictates of Allah and other statements about the inevitability of fate. Although Mecca is in Saudi Arabia, it belongs to all Muslims. I therefore appeal to Saudi Arabia to entitle us to organize the Hajj," said the Deputy Chairman of the ruling party.
* Recall that in recent days a crane crashed on the main mosque of Mecca, killing 108 people. Then, a series of fires claimed the lives of 7 people. A landslide, covering a hotel, killed 3 more pilgrims. Finally, a terrible crush on one of the routes of tens of thousands of pilgrims killed 750 people. The number of wounded during all of these events exceeded one thousand. -05D-
