United States Supports Democracy in Azerbaijan
US Secretary of State John Kerry congratulated President of Azerbaijan on the occasion of Republic Day - May 28.
Washington supports the sovereignty and the democratic development of Azerbaijan. "Ninety-seven years ago, the people of Azerbaijan created the first secular republic in the Muslim world – the statement says. - Since you declared independence from the Soviet Union in 1991, the two countries have been making joint efforts to strengthen the sovereignty of Azerbaijan, promoting democratic development and prosperity of the country," the message says.
"The United States strongly supports your role in the diversification of the European energy market with the help of the Southern Gas Corridor. Working together, we fight against terrorism and make efforts to ensure security in the region and around the world by participating in the NATO mission in Afghanistan," the message notes.
Kerry also said that "the US is determined to make efforts to find a peaceful solution to the conflict in Nagorno-Karabakh, to neutralize transnational threats and strengthen the rule of law."
Recall that in recent weeks the Azerbaijani authorities at the highest level have stated that an anti-Azerbaijani campaign is organized in the US, which aims to bring about a power change. Moreover, these plans are developed ostensibly "in Kerry’s office." -02D-
