USAID representative to visit Azerbaijan
Baku/04.11.22/Turan: Ambassador Erin E. McKee, USAID Assistant Administrator for the Bureau of Europe and Eurasia, will visit Azerbaijan on November 4 as a part of his regional trip to the South Caucasus.
The U.S. Embassy in Baku reports that McKee will be accompanied on the trip by Dr. Alexander Sokolovsky, Deputy Assistant Administrator, Bureau of Europe and Eurasia.
McKee's agenda includes a meeting with the Deputy Minister of Agriculture to discuss USAID's partnership issues with the Government of Azerbaijan and transportation routes with the director general of the "Port of Baku".
Note that McKee will also meet with women leaders and entrepreneurs on women's economic empowerment.
McKee will lay flowers on Shehid Alley and honor those who died in the Karabakh wars.
During the meetings, McKee is expected to emphasize U.S. continued support for Azerbaijani independence and lasting peace in the South Caucasus, as well as USAID's commitment to expanding participation of Azerbaijani entrepreneurs and foreign trade partners, improving the economic status of women, and enhancing Azerbaijan's role in regional trade and alleviating food insecurity. -16D-

Azerbaijani Prime Minister Ali Asadov, who arrived in Tehran for the inauguration ceremony of the President of Iran, was received only by Vice President Mohammad Reza Arif. The Baku Serious Crimes Court has stopped allowing journalists to attend trials. On July 30, journalists were again prevented from entering the hall where the trial of trade union activist Mohyaddin Orujev was taking place. Such a ban has already become systematic, because it has been observed for several weeks. The security staff of the court does not give explanations about the reasons for the ban. All this is a violation of the principle of openness of the court and violates the legitimate rights of journalists.

Armenia and Türkiye will consider the possibility of restoring the Akhurik-Akyaka railway border crossing, the Armenian Foreign Ministry said following the meeting of the special representatives of the two countries Ruben Rubinyan and Serdar Kilic at the border, Sputnik-Armenia reports.
