Visit of Office of delegation of International Religious Freedom of the US State Department
Baku/13.03.23/Turan: Representatives of the Office of International Religious Freedom of the US State Department highly appreciated the "constructive discussions" last week with religious leaders, representatives of religious organizations and the government of Azerbaijan.
This is reported by the US Embassy in Baku.
As noted in the press release, the American delegation held meetings to discuss issues of religious freedom.
"Visits to the Ateshgah (Temple of Fire Worshippers), the Ajdarbey Mosque, the Baptist Prayer House and the Synagogue of Ashkenazi Jews inspired the delegation," the US Embassy further said.
In turn, the Azerbaijani State Committee for Religious Structures said in a statement that the chairman of the department, Mubariz Gurbanly met with the Deputy Ambassador for International Religious Freedom and Special Assignments of the Office of International Religious Freedom of the US State Department, Carson Relitz Rocker and Adviser on Europe and Central Asia, Johanna I Wolfsberg.
During the meeting, the sides exchanged views on the Azerbaijani model of state-religion relations and the situation in the religious sphere.
"Azerbaijan is a unique region where representatives of various religious confessions live in an atmosphere of unity and harmony. The relationship between the state and religion is regulated by the Constitution and the Law on Freedom of Religion. Despite the fact that Azerbaijan is a secular state, religious denominations are surrounded by attention and care.
Every year, Islamic and non-Muslim religious communities receive financial support from the state budget of the country," Gurbanly said. -03b06-
