Where did the Armenian heritage in Lachin come from?
Baku/22.08.22/Turan: The Armenian side, true to its traditions, arranged a memorial service for the "cultural heritage" that it leaves in Lachin. The talk is about the church in the city itself, the monuments to the participants of the Karabakh war and other "sights".
An ignorant person may think that we are talking about something ancient and controversial. However, the church, the fate of which the Armenians mourn, was built in Lachin in 1998, 6 years after its occupation. In subsequent years, Armenians erected new monuments in Lachin dedicated to their soldiers who occupied the ancestral lands of Azerbaijan, where Armenians did not live.
So is all this the cultural heritage of the Armenians?
There is no single concept of “cultural heritage” in the world, however, it is generally accepted to consider as such objects of material and spiritual culture created by past generations, passed down from generation to generation, as something valuable and revered. These items must be of archaeological, scientific or artistic value.
During the years of occupation, the Armenians destroyed many objects that really were the cultural heritage of the indigenous population of Lachin, as well as all other occupied territories. These were mosques, cemeteries, libraries, theaters, museums. The vast majority of exhibits of these objects were stolen or destroyed. At the same time, the “cultural heritage of the Armenians” appeared on these lands, and above all, in the form of churches. An example of this is the chapel in the Jabrayil region, built in honor of the Armenian soldiers who captured this region of Azerbaijan.
In fact, all this is a legacy of the occupation period and the Armenians will have to answer for a long time for the damage they caused to the cultural heritage of Azerbaijan. --02B--
