Baku /10.03.23/ Turan: Luis Bono, US State Department's adviser on negotiations in the Caucasus, unexpectedly returned to Baku on March 10 and held a meeting with Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov.

"During the meeting, they discussed the negotiation process on a peace agreement between Azerbaijan and Armenia, issues that arose during the meeting of leaders at the Munich Security Conference, as well as ensuring unhindered communications in Nakhchivan, as well as the prospects for the delimitation process," - the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry said in a press release.

Bayramov drew attention to the fact that Armenia has not fulfilled its obligations, has not completely withdrawn its troops from the territory of Azerbaijan, and continues regular military provocations. At the same time, the minister informed about the position of Baku on the issue of reintegration of Armenian residents.

Other issues of mutual interest were also discussed, the report said.

Recall that Bono was in Baku on Monday and left for Yerevan, where he held meetings with the leadership of Armenia.

Responding to the question of Turan the U.S. Embassy Spokesperson said:

“He returned to Baku to have an additional meeting with FM Bayramov who was out of the country earlier in the week.

In both Yerevan and Baku, the Senior Advisor met with senior officials to advance the peace process.

While he was still in the region SACN Bono appreciated the opportunity to meet with Foreign Minister Bayramov.

As SACN Bono said in his press engagements in both countries – the U.S. is committed to helping Azerbaijan and Armenia reach a durable peace”. -0-
