Baku/10.03.23/Turan: Zamin Salaev, an activist of the Popular Front Party, has been on a hunger strike for 32 days in the Baku pre-trial detention center-1,  Salaev's lawyer Nemat Kerimli  reported after a meeting with him on March 10 in the Baku pre-trial detention center-1.

According to him, Salaev's health is "severe". The pressure is at 70/50, the pulse is 58 beats per minute. Salaev has lost 25 kg. From weakness, he cannot stand on his feet, he can hardly move, the lawyer said.

Despite the hunger strike and serious health, Salaev was not placed in a pre-trial detention facility, Kerimli said. The lawyer said that today two employees of the Ombudsman's office visited Salaev.

In turn, the press service of the ombudsman's office told Turan that on behalf of the commissioner for human rights, a visit to the Baku pre-trial detention center took place today.
During the visit, representatives of the ombudsman's office received Salaev. Salaev's appeal was heard at the meeting, which was held in a confidential atmosphere.
In connection with his question, appeals were sent to the Prosecutor General and the main medical department of the Ministry of Justice, said Emil Shahzade, head of the press service of the ombudsman's office.

*On February 8, the Garadagh District Court of Baku arrested Zamin Salayev for three months. A criminal case has been initiated against him under Article 221.3 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (hooliganism – the use of force against the victim with the use of weapons or objects used as weapons). He faces up to 5 years in prison.

Zamin Salaev stated in court that he did not attack anyone, on the contrary, he was attacked himself. "When I got out of a taxi in the Lokbatan district of Baku, an unknown person insulted me and rushed at me with a knife. I tried to defend myself and ran away from the scene, pushing the attacker away. Immediately after that, I was stopped by plainclothes police officers and taken to the Garadagh district police department, accompanied by 4 police cars," Salaev told the judges of the Baku Court of Appeal on February 20. However, the court did not satisfy his complaint and kept him under arrest. ---03B06---
