Workers will get compensation
Baku / 17.01.20 / Turan: Employees of the Üstay company involved in the contracting work of SOCAR (State Oil Company of Azerbaijan) held a protest rally in Sumgait on January 16.
About 100 workers gathered in front of the Üstay office at the Ethylene Propylene Plant.
Protesters complained of non-payment of compensation.
The SOCAR public relations department told Turan that the Turkish company Üstay has been involved as a contractor in the modernization of the Ethylene-Propylene Plant of Azerkimya Production Association and is not related to the state oil company.
“This is a contracting company. According to protesters, the terms of their contracts are over. According to the rules, they are not entitled to compensation. Nevertheless, the Üstay company will pay them additional funds,” SOCAR said.
According to the same source, SOCAR requires all partner companies to ensure the rights of Azerbaijani citizens in accordance with the law in full.
“At present, there are no disagreements with companies,” SOCAR added.
The terms of contracts of the workers expired, Turan told in the company.
“The company pays compensation if the contracts are terminated ahead of schedule. However, upon completion of the contract, no compensation is provided. Nevertheless, our company decided to pay compensation to the protesters,” the company said. –21В-
