Russia extradited person involved in Ganja case to Azerbaijan
Baku/17.01.20/Turan: Mushvig Gurbanov, who was declared internationally wanted in the Ganja case, was brought from Moscow to Baku and detained in the Kurdakhan pre-trial detention center, said his mother Anisa Gurbanova on January 17.
Gurbanov was put on the wanted list by the decision of the Nasimi District Court on July 15, 2018. In particular, he is accused of attempted murder, terrorism, illegal possession of weapons, inciting sectarianism, an attempt to change forcibly the constitutional order, etc.
According to his mother, M. Gurbanov left for Russia to earn money in February 2017.
In October 2018, he was detained in the courtyard of the house where he lived.
And then it turned out that he was put on an international wanted list in Azerbaijan, continued A. Gurbanova.
“My son did not know Yunis Safarov (he committed an attempt on the former head of Ganja on July 3, 2018). We don’t know what my son has to do with this matter,” continued A. Gurbanova.
She noted that M. Gurbanov spent 1 year and 3 months in a pre-trial detention center in Moscow and during that time, no investigative actions were taken against him.
“In April 2019, the term for the measure of restraint of arrest expired and the Moscow court found that the evidence presented was not sufficient. Nevertheless, despite the lawyer's requests for the release of my son, the court left him in custody,” A.Gurbanova said.
According to M. Gurbanova, she only learned on January 17 that her son was taken to Baku and he was in a pre-trial detention center in Kurdakhany.
However, she does not know when her son was brought to Baku.
Gurbanova noted, her son suffers from a mental illness and epilepsy.
“He receives treatment for these diseases and has medical certificates and prescriptions from doctors,” the woman said.
The attempts to get comments from the General Prosecutor's Office and the Prison Service of Azerbaijan were futile. –21B06-

Official Baku has condemned the visit of Polish President Andrzej Duda to the Azerbaijan-Armenia border during his official visit to Armenia. "The visit of Polish President Andrzej Duda to the to Armenia-Azerbaijan border area in the company of members of the EU Mission in Armenia (EUMA), unfortunately, is another demonstration of anti-Azerbaijani policy of different EU member countries and European institutions. We deeply regret that President of the country which is officially a “strategic partner” of Azerbaijan has participated in the unacceptable diplomatic “binocular show” leading to the aggravation of relations between Azerbaijan and Poland,”" reads the statement on the Azerbaijani Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ account on X (formerly Twitter).
